Tragedy for Coronation Street actress Debbie Rush as her Waterloo Road star son dies aged just 31, days before Christmas
He even followed in his mum’s footsteps by popping up on Corrie
He was not on the list.
CORRIE star Debbie Rush has tragically revealed her son has died just days before Christmas.
She announced the sad news of William’s passing on Instagram
in an emotional post.
William, 31, passed away on Wednesday but his cause of death is still unknown.
Paying tribute, Debbie, who played Anna Windass in Corrie, wrote: “Our beautiful baby boy, William, passed away on 17th December.
“As a family, our hearts are completely broken, and there are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss.
“Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all.”
Debbie said she hoped her son’s legacy could live on through organ donation.
She said: “Through being an organ donor, he has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end.
“His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy.
“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate
this unimaginable grief.
“William will always be loved, always missed, and forever in our hearts.”
William was best known for his stint on Waterloo Road as
Josh Stevenson from 2009 to 2013.
He also starred in seven episodes of Grange Hill as Ali Duncan from 2005 to 2007.
William appeared in Shameless and Vera during his acting career.
And he even followed in his mum’s footsteps by popping up on Corrie in two separate episodes in 2014.
Debbie appeared as Anna Windass in Corrie from 2008 to 2018.
William also appeared on the X Factor back in 2016.
He sang Zara Larsson’s Lush Life in front of judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger.
William made it through to the six-chair challenge, the
third of four elimination stages.
Messages of support for Debbie and her family have since poured in after she revealed the devastating news.
Fellow Corrie star Sally Dynevor MBE said: “Oh Debbie I’m so shocked to hear this news.
“Sending you so much love. What a beautiful boy he was.”
Waterloo Road actress Katie McGlynn also paid tribute.
She wrote: “Debbie I am so sorry to you all. Will brought a smile to everyone’s face and was a very kind soul.
“Thinking of you & sending so much love to you all.”
William leaves behind his parents Debbie and Andrew as well as siblings Poppy and Tom.
