WILLIAM H. BOEDEKER, JR., 90, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Towne House Re tirement Center. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis. He lived most of his life in Fort Wayne and graduated from North Side High School and Wayne State University. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, receiving three Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star for his valor. After the war, he was recruited by the Chicago Rockets, and played six years of professional football with the Rockets, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cleveland Browns. Upon completion of his football career, he worked for Capehart/Farnsworth and Magnavox, later he served as President of Universal Merchandise Company. Active in the community, he was a member of Orchard Ridge Country Club and the One Hundred Percent Club. Surviving are his daughter, Beth (Robert) Haller; son, William R. (Katrina) Boedeker; and grandsons, Kevin and Kent Boedeker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia. Private family services will precede inurnment at Lindenwood Cemetery at a later date. Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services are handling arrangements. He was the last living player of the Chicago Rockets.
