Roy Cox Jr., died April 2, 2013. He was 64.
He was not on the list.
Roy was one of the founding members of Bubble Puppy, best remembered for their late 60s one-hit wonder, "Hot Smoke and Sassafras."
The band formed in 1966 in San Antonio, Texas. Their hit single was released in December of 1968 and soon rose to the No. 14 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. "Sassafras" also earned the band a Gold Record. Having already composed the music for the song but without title and words, the inspiration for the title came from the character of Granny on the 60s TV show "The Beverly Hillbillies" when Granny yells "Hot smoke and sassafras, Jethro...can't you do anything right?"
Bubble Puppy received a star on the South Texas Music Walk
of Fame in 2004, and was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2011.
