Shrek Actor John Bisom Dies in LA at 47

He was not on the list.

BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed the sad news that actor John Bisom took his own life last night in California. The 47 year old actor had been suffering from depression as a result of health issues recently and many in the theatre community that knew him have reached out to us sharing their sadness.

Bisom recently appeared on the tour of MAMMA MIA! as Sam Carmichael, along with appearances in the 2003 production of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE in LA, THE FULLY MONTY in 2007 in Los Angeles and numerous other stage and screen appearances.

A recent theatrical bio noted that John has performed in many productions across the Southland, on both coasts and overseas, most recently playing Utterson in Jekyll and Hyde at CLO of South Bay Cities. Some favorite roles include Will Rogers in The Will Rogers Follies, Harold Hill in The Music Man, Lank Hawkins in Crazy for You (Ovation Award for Best Musical), Oscar in Sweet Charity (Best Actor Nomination in Austin, TX, Hapgood in Anyone Can Whistle, The Wolf/Cinderella's Prince in Into the Woods, Dominique in The Baker's Wife, Clifford in Deathtrap, George Nowak in She Loves Me, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, and Hamlet in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

He voiced the 'Merry Man' in SHREK and appeared on television in small appearances on in Veronica Mars, Desperate Housewives, Charmed, 24, Three Sisters, Roswell, The X-Files and Norm amongst others.
